Welcome back to another December. I have completed all my work and so for the rest of the month (or year, even!) I shall celebrate. I have a feeling that this Christmas is going to be one of the best I have ever spent, and my close friends will probably instantly know why.
1. blink-182 - Boxing Day
Released just the other day, this one was incredible on the first listen. The acoustic vibe of the song captures the feeling of winter and the sadness discussed in the lyrics perfectly. Still I find myself singing along happily, probably because it is a new blink-182 song... Or perhaps it is because in comparison to their previous album Neighborhoods (which I enjoyed very much), I think this song is very reminiscent of more classic blink tunes. Mark's voice sounds fantastic as usual and Tom's voice sounds much better than he did on Neighborhoods. Also have you guessed yet that I am a biased blink fan?
2. Relient K - 12 Days Of Christmas
Last year, I included From First To Last's dreadful yet incredible take on this Christmas classic, and this year I am including Relient K's version. Punk rock Christmas masterpiece. Can Relient K do no wrong?
3. Bowling For Soup - Frosty The Snowman
There is nothing better than a Christmas song you hear every year covered with a snotty punk vibe. Bowling For Soup seem to be good at that too. I was going to include their cover of 'Father Christmas' but I decided I loved this cover a bit more. Nothing happier than Frosty The Snowman.
4. MxPx - Auld Lang Syne
Okay okay, I realise that Auld Lang Syne is a song used to celebrate the New Year, but it was on MxPx's Christmas album and also it is something from this general time of year, so let me off people! Anyway, this fast paced rendition of this song is charged with energy and perfect for going mental to. Give it a listen.
So there you have it. Some ace punk rock Christmas tunes for you to jam out to during this holiday season. I hope everybody has a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. Anyway, I'm off to the dentist...
